University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) has established a collaborative partnership with multiple universities in the U.S., designating itself as a premier study site for visits. This strategic alliance brings together the research expertise of all institutions, fostering a dedicated environment for the investigation and understanding of CADASIL. Through joint efforts, UW-Madison and the entire Consortium of sites aim to advance knowledge and contribute to the broader scientific community’s understanding of this rare and complex condition. UW-Madison is home to the CADASIL Consortium’s Clinical Coordinating Center led by study principal investigator, Dr. Jane Paulsen.
Jane Paulsen, Ph.D.

Jane Paulsen is a Professor of Neurology with tenure at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She was previously the Roy J. Carver Chair in Neurosciences at the University of Iowa, and began her academic career in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurosciences at UCSD. Her career interests include Huntington’s Disease and vascular dementia research. Dr. Paulsen serves as the study PI for the CADASIL Consortium study.

Dr. Jamie Elliott is a vascular neurologist at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health who specializes in stroke, including care of the acute stroke patient, stroke recovery, and stroke prevention. She completed her neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics.

Inez Dufresne works with the Paulsen Lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison as the Clinical Research Coordinator II for the CADASIL Consortium. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and French from Grinnell College. Inez is excited to be a part of Dr. Paulsen’s effort to learn more about CADASIL and how to support longitudinal research focused on vascular disease progression. Her other research interest lies in maternal health and wellbeing, and she aspires to become an OB/GYN. In her free time, Inez enjoys yoga, cooking for friends and family, traveling, and reading.

Jenna is the Outreach Program Coordinator for the Paulsen Lab. She recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Communication Science and Disorders and a certificate in Child Welfare. She is excited to be part of Dr. Paulsen’s lab and learn how to help people affected by Huntington’s Disease and CADASIL. Her research interests include communication disorders and dementia. In the future, she plans to pursue a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys camping, traveling, skiing, and thrift shopping.

Natalie works with Dr. Jane Paulsen’s lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is the CADASIL Consortium’s Research Project Manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UW-Madison and a master’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Freiburg. As a member of Dr. Paulsen’s lab, she is excited to build on her academic background and learn more about Huntington’s Disease and CADASIL. Her research interests focus on utilizing neuroimaging to better understand the neural bases of psychiatric disorders, and she ultimately hopes to pursue a doctorate degree in clinical psychology. In her free time, Natalie enjoys cooking, yoga, trail running, and traveling.
